Our Story

For more than 30 years, the Blue Mountains Builders and Trades Association (formerly the Thornbury Builders and Trades Association) has brought together trusted builders, tradespeople, suppliers, and industry professionals from across the region.

Founded by a small group of local contractors who believed that the industry is stronger when professionals work together, the association was created to foster professional relationships, share knowledge, and promote high standards within the building industry. What began as monthly meetings in the old Thornbury Fire Hall has grown into a respected network of professionals serving Southern Georgian Bay and beyond.

Over the years, our members have remained committed to supporting both the industry and the community through professional development, networking opportunities, charitable fundraising, and youth-focused initiatives. One of our most successful traditions is the Annual Golf Tournament, which continues to raise funds in support of local charities and community programs.

Moving Forward

As our membership and regional reach continue to grow, so does our role within the industry. Through networking opportunities, educational events, and advocacy initiatives, we provide a collective voice for building professionals while supporting the ongoing development of our members.

In 2026, the Thornbury Builders and Trades Association  adopted the name Blue Mountains Builders and Trades Association (BMBTA). While our name has evolved to better reflect the broader community we serve, our commitment remains unchanged: supporting our members, promoting professional excellence, and strengthening the building industry throughout the region.

Guided by our values of Trusted Craftsmanship. Local Expertise., we look forward to building stronger connections, supporting local communities, and helping shape the future of the industry for generations to come.

This approach reassures existing members that it's the same organization, while positioning the new name as a natural progression rather than a complete change.

Mission Statement

To promote professionalism, education, and collaboration within the building industry while strengthening the unity of our membership and the communities we serve.
